The Spotlight Visit: Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries at GVSU gives prospective students an inside look at careers and opportunities in aquatic science, fisheries, and environmental conservation. This visit takes place in Muskegon, Michigan, at the Annis Water Resources Institute (AWRI), providing students with a unique opportunity to explore GVSU’s hands-on approach to studying and protecting freshwater resources.
The visit begins with a 30-minute session on admissions, followed by an overview of undergraduate programs and career opportunities in Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. Guests will learn how GVSU students gain real-world experience studying aquatic ecosystems, fisheries, water quality, and freshwater resources throughout the Great Lakes region.
Guests will then experience the Annis Water Resources Institute, where they can explore the facilities and resources used by students and faculty for hands-on research and learning. The visit showcases how GVSU students apply what they learn in the classroom to real-world environmental challenges and prepare for careers related to fisheries, aquatic science, environmental conservation, and water resources.
